Rachel Johnson

Assessment and Consulting Experience 


Rachel works as an independent consultant and executive assessor, as well as an external partner to a number of global and boutique talent management firms. She currently conducts executive assessments for selection and development, and coaches leaders, ranging from the frontline to the C-suite and including high performers and high potential leaders. As an executive coach, Rachel is skilled at utilizing assessment results to create and implement robust development plans to increase self-awareness and transform leaders’ perspective and performance. Prior to becoming an independent consultant, Rachel worked as a senior consultant at Korn/Ferry International supporting a variety of clients in the automotive, professional services, industrial, and life sciences industries with their global leadership assessment/development, integrated talent management, and succession planning efforts. She managed and executed a role profiling and high touch assessment and development project for a top pharmaceutical client, which led to two additional engagements. She also created and executed a developmental assessment center and coaching program for high-potentials in one of the world’s leading chemical companies, which led to the company re-contracting to deliver four centers per year.

 

Business and Organizational Leadership Experience


Besides consulting, Rachel also has worked internally in several organizations. Earlier in her career, she worked for Sun Microsystems, Inc., where she worked on organizational effectiveness efforts including designing and implementing leadership development programs. Her leadership programs won several awards while at Sun.

 

While at Korn/Ferry, Rachel shifted from her senior consultant role to work as the Global Director of Learning and Development. In that role, she was responsible for all onboarding, training, professional development, and succession management for staff across the world. She also planned and implemented the global cross-training strategy after Korn Ferry’s $80 million acquisition of PDI Ninth House.

 

Education and Certifications


Rachel earned her Ph.D. in industrial/organizational psychology from Colorado State University. While at CSU, she taught upper-level courses in psychological testing and measurement and industrial psychology. She holds Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts degrees in psychology and sociology from the University of Georgia. She is currently working towards becoming a Certified Associate Coach through the International Coach Federation (ICF). In addition, she holds multiple certifications and trainings, including Hogan Assessment System and Korn/Ferry Leadership Architect, Voices 360 assessment, ViaEDGE, and Choices.
