Candy Deemer

Coaching and Consulting Experience


Candy Deemer has over 15 years of experience coaching executives in many industries including entertainment, education, financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, technology and non-profits ranging from large donor organizations to smaller startups. She has coached senior leaders including C-level Executives, Presidents/Owners, Partners, Vice Presidents, Directors and Medical Directors. In addition, Candy has coached many mid-level Managers as a part of the student coaching work in the Executive MBA program at Loyola Marymount University. Her coaching expertise and focus is on communication, team leadership skills, and executive presence – three areas that are inextricably linked. She has supported the on-boarding process for new executives in organizations and helped leaders build a more values-driven culture in their organizations.

 

Business Experience


Candy was an instructor in the Executive MBA program at Loyola Marymount University for 13 years, where she taught Professional Growth Planning—giving mid-career executives tools and strategies to better assess themselves and their career choices. In her private practice, her clients include Warner Bros., Activision, Children’s Hospital of LA, British Petroleum, Cathay Bank, The California Wellness Foundation, Environmental Charter Schools, Synergy Charter Academies, Animal Surgery and Emergency Center of LA, and the Southern California Veterinary Group.

 

Candy’s first career was in advertising where she spent 22 years in client services and agency management, primarily with DDB Worldwide Communications in Chicago and Los Angeles. She was the Co-Managing Director/COO (and highest ranking woman) in DDB’s Los Angeles office. She has served on the Boards of Directors of the American Advertising Museum, Northwestern University Alumni Association, Students in Free Enterprise, and is a founding partner and founding board member of Social Venture Partners Los Angeles, a diverse group of professionals who donate resources and expertise to help local nonprofits accelerate their growth and expand their impact.

 

Education and Certifications


Candy holds Bachelor and Master of Science degrees from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and has served on the Board of Advisors of Medill. She is a Charter member and former Chair of the Council of One Hundred, a small national group of distinguished alumnae who are selected to be career role models/mentors to the University’s alumnae. Candy is certified as a Professional Co-Active Coach and a Stakeholder-Centered Coach (for Individuals and Teams) and she is a Certified Facilitator with Total SDI (Strengths Deployment Inventory).
